NSS

The NSS unit of our college has been actively operational in Shibpur since its inception in 2007. With its motto- "not me, but you" - it has taken up a serious role in creating awareness of issues such as: health, hygiene, environment, pollution. Since 2007, the NSS has organized several awareness camps, as well as an Eye Camp.

A local Kazipara busty (ward nos. 35,37,40) has been adopted by the NSS Unit of our college. Every year NSS provides free health and eye check -up services to the 100 elderly persons and children. Free clothes had been distributed to over 500 residents and over 500 poor students have been given free stationary. To control pollution, our volunteers have undertaken drives like spraying of bleaching powder and other disinfectant.

As in every session of Blood Donation Camp was organized during 2013-14 session. Awareness programmes were regularly organized and workshops were held and vocational training was given to the women to support themselves. NSS volunteers participated in a special camp in Shimla during 2012-13. NSS Unit of our college has been awarded for being the best college NSS Unit in 2011-12, conducted by C.U. Our volunteer Nayana Ghoshal, B.A. 3rd year was awarded as best volunteer in C.U. Our volunteer Suman Bhattacharya, B.Com 2nd year & Nayna Ghoshal participated in P.R.D. Camp at Guwahati in 2012. Avijit Gului also participated in All India Youth Festival at Bangalore in 2012. Nayna Ghoshal also participated in Mega Camp, Delhi and national Youth Exchange & Home Stay programme at Mysore in the session 2012-13.
