Since its inception by the founder, Bijoy Krishna Bhattacharya in1948 as a seat of higher learning to inspire and guide the young minds of urban and semi-urban areas , SDBIC has come a long way and grown into a NAAC accredited institution of repute. Generations of administrators, teachers, staff members and students have, over the years, made significant contributions towards the development of the college.

Now, more than ever before, a college like SDBIC has to redefine its future journey as an institution proactively engaged in the processes to fulfil the challenges of the transforming higher education scenario in India in the digital era in the globalised world. I am sure, like earlier times, all of us will come together and work hard to make sure that SDBIC succeeds to meet the demands of the changing times and establish itself as a modern centre of learning.

SDBIC has brilliant faculties in all the departments to do justice to the academic needs of the students. Its infrastructure is improving significantly. The students across the various departments have been actively involved in their academic pursuits. The whole atmosphere in the college has changed for the better. We have reasons to believe that SDBIC is poised for a big leap forward in terms of providing better opportunities, academic as well as extra-academic, for the students in days to come.
